Twitter Shop Spotlight: Twitter testing new shopping feature ‘Product Drops’

Shop Spotlight (currently accessible to select eligible accounts) is a dedicated place at the top of a profile where companies may highlight their items. The goal of this focus is to provide spontaneous shopping opportunities straight on Twitter. 

A dedicated space to showcase products at the top of a Professional Account where businesses may showcase their products is one of Shop Spotlight’s features. When this spotlight is enabled, potential consumers may navigate through a carousel of items and tap through on a particular product to learn more and purchase it ā€“ all while staying in the Twitter app.

The tool allows celebrities or businesses to experiment with how a shoppable profile may be used to not just promote and find products, but also to buy them directly from the profiles.

It began in the United States with a small number of brands for Twitter users who spoke English.

Twitter claims to believe in the power of the product dialogues that it fosters. The users will be able to see how our engaged, responsive, and conversational audience reacts to items that are emotionally charged, such as a new jersey from their favourite sports team, or products that have a long-term impact, such as a new skincare regimen, through this pilot. And, most importantly, it will allow the company to continue learning about the buying experiences individuals like on Twitter.
